Alfred H. Noble


General Alfred Houston Noble was a United States Marine Corps general served in combat with the Marines from World War I in the Battle of Belleau Wood to World War II in the Pacific theater. His last command, before retiring from the Marine Corps with overyears of service, was as Commanding General, Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic in Norfolk, Virginia.

Alfred Noble was born on October 26, 1894, at Federalsburg, Maryland. After graduation from St. Johns College, at Annapolis, he reported for active duty as a Marine second lieutenant on May 24, 1917, and embarked for France that October.
